# 01 introduction

**Subscription Manager** is a Discord bot that automates subscription renewal tracking and reminders. It helps server owners manage paid roles, premium memberships, and recurring services without manual follow-ups.

## Why This Bot?

If you run a Discord server where users pay for premium access, you've probably dealt with:

* Manually checking who's expired
* Copy-pasting reminder messages
* Forgetting to remove roles when subscriptions lapse
* Losing track of renewal dates

This bot handles all of that automatically.

## How It Works

1. **Staff adds a subscription** — `/subscription add @user Netflix 30d`
2. **Bot tracks the expiry** — stored locally in SQLite
3. **Automated reminders** — DMs the user at your chosen intervals (e.g. 14, 7, 3, 1 day before)
4. **Expiry handling** — notifies the user, removes the premium role, marks as inactive
5. **Renewal** — `/subscription renew @user Netflix 1y` resets the timer and re-adds the role

## Features

* Simple slash commands (`/subscription add`, `/subscription renew`, etc.)
* Discord dynamic timestamps — users see "expires in 5 days" in their own timezone
* Auto-removal and re-addition of premium roles
* Configurable helper role — let staff manage subs without touching settings
* Owner role from `.env` — full access bypass
* Branded, premium-looking embeds with your bot logo
* Log channel for tracking all actions
* No external services — everything runs on your own server

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://azlicense.gitbook.io/azreminder/01-introduction.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
